The Rocky Business Mixtape

I have been on Rocky Business since the first time I saw them in the ‘Find Away’ music video by TONE awhile back, and I must say, they have a very unique sound. A sound that a lot of the current music lacks. My favorite tracks on this tape would have to be ‘Find Away’, ‘Bass Lines’, ‘Times Up’, and ‘Prisoners of Rock’.

The dudes at Rocky Business have several of my tees and have rocked them proudly. Thanks for that.

Compton Cook Out – Messed up

Yea, we’ve all been there. Cracked a racist joke or two (or three or four or more, in some cases. names withheld. haha) with the homies. But this is straight up wrong. In terms of colleges, UCSD was #2 on my list as well. Not saying that this incident will change that, but it is eye opening to say the least.

Game Changing Name Changing

A lot of people have been asking me what the significance of the name change from Too Legit to the Legitimacy is. Yesterday, my good friend Mkyend asked me the question once again over Formspring, so I thought I’d just let everyone know what’s up.

The name change was brought about for several reasons.

1. Brand Image – I really felt that Too Legit was amateurish and I’m sure most of you will agree that it would really benefit the brand’s image to switch it up a bit without straying too far from the original name.

2. Significance of the Name – The name had implications that you could, in fact, be TOO legit, or too real. That’s impossible. With the change of the name, no longer is their a bar set for ‘how’ authentic you should be, instead The Legitimacy is a collective of individuals who live life with authenticity close to heart.

3. Progress/Future – At some point in everyone’s life, there is a need for change. A change in location, a change in occupation, a change in something. The name change was just something I felt was right. You could even call it a rebirth. I believe that it will ultimately lead the brand more in the direction of what I originally wanted it to be.

4. Versatility – Too Legit really limited what I could do in almost every aspect of design. It kind of brought the false thoughts that the tees were LOUD like something MC Hammer would wear (references to too legit to quit were heard quite frequently, you might imagine). And in general, it was hard to work around the name.

Those are just a couple of the reasons why I changed the name. Hopefully everyone understands a little bit better. If you have any more questions regarding the name change or anything else about the brand, feel free to hit me up!
